Great pumpkin giveaway

Come one, come all to the 2018 Great Pumpkin Giveaway on October 7th going on throughout the day between the hours of 12:00pm - 5:00pm at the rain location of Doane's Fuhrer Field House. Pumpkin vouchers can be redeemed at the pumpkin displays located in the South Side Parking Lot of Doane Fuhrer Field House during the hours of 12:00pm - 5:00pm on Sunday, October 7th. Due to the rain relocation, pumpkin vouchers can also be redeemed during the hours of 3:00pm - 7:00pm on Tuesday, October 9th and Wednesday, October 10th at the Community Pumpkin Patch located at 3rd Street and Norman.   

The Crete Chamber of Commerce's goal is to give away 400+ pumpkins to local children to have on their porch's for this year's Halloween. Local businesses, organizations and individuals can purchase pumpkin vouchers to give to families to be able to participate in the giveaway and to cover the cost of the pumpkin. All pumpkins donated for the giveaway as well as pumpkin vouchers purchased will be handed out to children at the event, with a hope that no child goes home empty handed. The 400+ pumpkins used for the Giveaway will be lined up on Main Street for display on the weekend of the event. Children can pick up their pumpkin during the Great Pumpkin Giveaway between 12th and 13th on Main Street. Families may also pick out and purchase additional pumpkins at the Great Pumpkin Patch on the hayrack ride to Old Mill Park.

To learn more on how to purchase pumpkin vouchers, please contact the Crete Chamber of Commerce at 402-826-2136 or at one of the following festival activities: Swine & Dine - Friday, October 5th; Mayor's Fun Run & Pancake Feed - Saturday, October 6th or at either Information Station located in the Front Lobby in Doane University Fuhrer Field House on Sunday, October 7th between the hours of 12:00pm - 5:00pm.

The Great Pumpkin Blitz

HOW ARE ALL THESE PUMPKINS GOING TO GET TO THE PUMPKIN FESTIVAL? The Great Pumpkin Blitz is the answer! The Great Pumpkin Blitz is on Friday, October, 5th, 20178 from 3:30-6pm at City Park. The Great Pumpkin Blitz is the pick up of pumpkins that participant pumpkin growers and pumpkin donators grew for the Great Pumpkin Giveaway. Pumpkin growers can also drop off their pumpkins for the festival on Friday, October 5th, 2018 anytime between 10am-4pm in City Park and a delivery station will also be available to drop off pumpkins.

Participating pumpkin growers and pumpkin donators must submit their address for pick up of their pumpkins. Volunteer workers will come to their location of their pumpkin patch and will pick up any quantity and size of pumpkins between 4-6pm. The pumpkins gathered will be lined up on Main Street to decorate for the festival and to be ready for the Great Pumpkin Giveaway. If you wish to be a volunteer to help pick up pumpkins for the Great Pumpkin Blitz or want your pumpkins to be picked up, please submit your information on the following link.
